About

Freedom and New Life are Possible

I am currently seeing clients through a HIPAA compliant Telehealth platform, as well as face-to-face sessions. Welcome to my practice! My approach to therapy is humanistic, and I believe strongly in the power of the genuine therapeutic relationship. This working alliance between therapist and client can embody the best aspects of human relationship, and be healing in and of itself. My worldview embraces cornerstones of truth, grace, and forgiveness, and it is through this lens that I am able to relate to my clients. I find it an honor to be able to walk with people through the dark, painful roads to healing with compassion, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and lack of judgment. I guide my clients to build personal resilience that will help them maintain health and wellness through all of life’s challenges, and allow them to find purpose and meaning. My undergraduate degree is in the biological sciences. For many years, I enjoyed a career in the pharmaceutical industry that included management roles and leadership of diverse, international teams. I also served as a mentor and coach, and welcomed the opportunity to help people grow and develop to their full capacity. This included optimizing strengths, improving areas of need, and providing support through painful personal and job-related issues. I decided to change careers and pursue a doctorate in Counseling Psychology as a result of my own work in therapy that literally changed my life. I wanted to dedicate my life to helping others who are hurting and suffering from mental health issues and difficult life situations to find the freedom and new life that I found. My journey left me with a strong desire to break down the stigma of mental illness, and I developed a fierce determination to understand and find ways of healing from the complex biopsychosocial causes of mental health issues. For many people, faith and spirituality are the basis of their identity, values, and beliefs, are critically important to the way they view themselves and the world. The intersection of faith and mental health can serve as a foundation for the therapeutic process. For some, religion has been a source of considerable pain, and injuries can be significant and long-lasting. I welcome clients for whom faith is the cornerstone of their journey, those who are dealing with wounds related to their faith, those for whom faith is not an important part of their lives, and those who are exploring these issues. Under optimal circumstances, the career we pursue is a reflection of our passions, interests, intellectual and psychological strengths. The work we do greatly affects our mental health, in both positive and negative ways, and our mental health effects our ability to do well in our work. The intersection of career and mental health may be an important area of focus for your therapy, and we can work together to help you maintain balance and wellbeing. I am a graduate of St. Elizabeth University, and a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the NJ Psychological Association (NJPA). I also hold a certificate in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am available for consultancy, presentations, training, and seminars. If you think I may be a good fit for you, please feel free to call me for a complimentary 15 minute phone consultation to discuss your needs.
